Brief Description

Currently, there is a lack of didactic concepts for learners and teachers in the company-based training and further education of industrial and craftsman electrical and metal-technical vocations in order to use errors in real work situations in a way that is effective for learning. In most teaching and learning situations in vocational training, it is currently not possible for learners to make errors, as this has also negative consequences in terms of safety, economic efficiency or environmental protection, for which trainers are responsible.

Project Goals

The goal of the FeDiNAR joint project is to develop and evaluate an AR-supported learning system with associated learning scenarios in order to use errors "made" by a learner as efficiently as possible for the individual acquisition of competencies. With the FeDiNAR system, learners work on concrete tasks in learning scenarios for which decisions have to be made, actions execution takes place and results are evaluated. Learners work with and on real machinery. Sp they interact with it directly. However, some of the actions (and their effects) take place exclusively in the virtual world, so that, for example, a wrench forgotten on the milling machine only flies virtually through the workshop and this is visualized to the learners using AR.

For this purpose, already available solutions, such as AR glasses, a simulation environment for modeling, updating and simulating digital twins of man and machine, and a software solution for capturing interactions, are brought together in an application-oriented manner to also enable usage of this innovative learning system in smaller companies and vocational schools.
